these days are ours

Life has a crazy way of going on and on, even when you feel like things are so intense, so final, so real. The shooting at Newtown Elementary School has really affected me, as it has almost everyone in our country. It's just so insane, one of those things that I keep thinking about, yet still cannot wrap my head around. I keep thinking about the parents of the children who died, the teachers who lost practically an entire classroom full of small little people, small little minds, innocent and waiting to learn and grow and be. I keep thinking about them. Taken so young, seeds that will never grow, flowers that will never bloom, but will stay young and innocent forever in our memories.

Despite the sadness that this has brought to the back of my mind, my life has been pretty great lately. Our apartment is improving day by day, we finally got a couch, had our first guests over, and set up both of our desks! Amy and Kat came down after work on Saturday and we went to T-Sams and then to the Forbes party, which was fun. Then they sleptover and the next day, I was at work from 7-3:30 so that kind of sucked, but those guys ended up staying until like 7 or 8 that night, so I'm glad I got to hang out with them more then. When I got home from work, the three of them were baking me a cake for my birthday! I was like, "OMG yaaaaaay." So we made the cake, smoked, and then went out to dinner again, because Nate and I didn't had to go food shopping, lol. We went to Red Lantern which is this Chinese restaurant on Shrewsbury Street, and it was really good and I ate so much food, lol. Lauren Onifer also came with us, which was fun. It's so weird how we were like, all sort of enemies with her for a while, or at least I really didn't like her, and now we just get along so well. It's like we had to figure each other out or something, but when we got home from dinner to eat cake, all of us were just making each other laugh so much and being ridiculous and it was awes.

In other news, work is going good. It gets really old after like, 5 days when I really need a day off, but for the most part, everyone I work with is really cool and interesting and fun and funny. Brenden is like my besty at work, we actually hung out outside of work and went to Savers and bought each other our Secret Santa gifts, because we happened to pick each other, lol. But yeah, it's weird because we have really different values/motivations/beliefs, but we get along so well still and make each other laugh a lot. But yeah like, he is a Republican and thinks recycling is stupid and is super religious and wants to become a Manager at Starbucks. But still love him! Haha.

I've gotten/figured out most of my presents for people for Christmas, though I still don't know what to get Nate's parents or Adrienne or Dad. Has anybody gotten Dad socks yet?
