Surprise! Inspired by both
alittlestrange and
tigerannesims2, I decided to try my hands at a prettacy - only I went on a different route to what I had planned ages ago. I'm still getting back to the rhythm of posting after such a long time, so please be patient with me.
Welcome to Pickford, a small but beautiful place.
Actually, this is the dirt version of the Arbordale terrain (only it looks a bit closer to he luscious side, thanks to my default replacements), which already comes fully decorated with trees and tree stumps. It's probably one of my favourite terrains from the game.
On the north bank, you can see the lots belonging to the sim bin families that remained after I used cleaned-up and empty templates, depending on what I wanted to see replaced or gone. But the lot that really interests us is the one found by the south bank, not too far from the lighthouse. Let's have a closer look, shall we?
So this is going to be where our founder lives. I've decided to use a 4x4 lot, not because of economic reasons, but because I find that the the 5x5 lots tend to lag and glitch more often than the smaller ones, and I'm hoping to keep the family in one place for as long as I can.
So far, the place isn't much. It's built on the cheaper foundation and looks a bit like a trailer home, but I swear that wasn't my intention. I only wanted something that's small and basic, but high enough to avoid my toddlers getting out into the snow during the winter as it has so often happened to me in foundation-less homes.
The inside. It's spacious and doesn't look unfinished, though I ran out of money before I could add proper flooring or windows - and, as I later realized, I also forgot to buy a phone before it was too late.
As it is, though, it's not a bad place for a founder to start what I hope is a long and successful legacy.
Speaking of founders, here he is. Let's meet him, shall we?
This (ahem) handsome young man is Percy Prettyface. A rather ironic name, I admit, but I ran a bit short of ideas and this was the only thing that came to mind when the time came to give him a name.
A side view, so that you can see just how carried away I got on Bodyshop. Large eyes with thick eyelashes, a large bulging nose, a practically nonexistent upper lip that got swallowed by said nose, a big chin with the most prominent underbite ever, and a skull where no hairstyle and/or hat I tried seemed to fit properly. And yet, I find him utterly adorable.
Why are you looking so baffled, Mr Humble?
Oh, I see. Humble's gift broke the laws of physics and materialized inside the house.
Still, weirder things have happened. This is the sims, after all.
Since he has no desk, the computer was temporarily placed in the dining table. Immediately, Percy used it to look for a job open in Law Enforcement, but with no success.
The welcome wagon consisted of Sanjay Ramaswami, Sandy Beech from Peni Griffin's Widespot (which I added to this neighbourhood as a
shopping district due to the amount of interesting-looking sims living there) and
alittlestrange's Grace Duckling, who is living in one of the north bank villas with her downtownie stalker victim son-in-law husband. In other words, three married sims who are therefore excluded from the list of potential spouses.
Still, I have Percy greet them because he needs to socialize with people. He and Grace get along wonderfully, which is a bonus as I like the idea of the two families befriending each other.
Since a stray named Tucker was around the moment Percy greeted the welcome wagon, this made him stay as well.
It all went nicely while everybody was playing and fussing all over him...
...but unfortunately when everybody left Tucker stayed behind and attempted to destroy the furniture.
I failed to capture the moment Percy lectured him, but after that Tucker climbed on the bed he had tried to smash and spent a huge amount of time pulling annoyed faces before he, too, left.
Since the absence of a phone meant nobody would invite Percy to go downtown, I decided to make him pay a visit to the nightclub by himself.
He met another Widespot resident, Penny Weiss, but sadly there was no chemistry.
Oh, look! The bartender has the alien face template. *makes mental note*
"Er... Do you want something?"
"Duuuuuhhhhhhhh..."
"Oh. Alright, then."
This girl spent a huge amount of time just staring at the guy in a creepy, slouchy way. It was a bit disturbing.
But not as disturbing as Mrs C looking all flirty and chilled. Why does she always behave like this in my game?
"Heeeey there, handsome."
*shudders*
Percy was oblivious to everything, though, as he spent most of the time dancing.
Ooh, look who's here.
I made Percy drop everything and greet him...
...and then they spent a while chatting. (Sorry about the crappy angle of this, by the way. I was unable to capture the whole thing properly.) Whenever I can, I try to make my sims befriend one of the witches since it's a life stage I'm particularly fond of.
Once they became friends, I had Percy end the conversation and return home, as he was exhausted.
As soon as he woke up I had him search for his dream job again, but still no luck.
Since I know that bills always arrive on the second day, and knowing that the money would very likely not be enough to pay them, I had him resort to digging for treasure. A little trinket would be enough to help with the expenses.
Uh-oh.
He spent most of the day skilling, as he kept rolling wants to earn points (thank you, secondary aspiration), but in the late afternoon I decided to send him downtown again.
Okay, this girl looks interesting enough.
"Ooh, I like this one."
"Thank you, sir. Now, would you be so kind as to stop poking my chest?"
I think we have a winner. World, meet Marquise Crypto. (I love my naming mod.)
Again, I use "hang out" to make them gain relationship points.
Also, Yehudi Duckling (or, as he's called in my game, Hugo), decided to spend some time in the part as well.
My game seems to have something about slouchy stalkers.
Marquise seems really pleased with being whistled at.
"Oh, my. Not only is he handsome, he's also a charmer!"
Really pleased.
Percy takes advantage of the situation and asks her on a date. She clearly has her mind set on him.
That said, I'm a bit apprehensive at the idea of pairing up two Family sims together. I foresee a lot of autonomous tries for baby.
Still, they look rather adorable together.
Well, on occasion Percy looks like he's smoked something, but overall they look adorable.
Several things of note happened very closely together, to the point they ended up fitting in the same screenshot:
a) Percy had his first kiss. I thought the "kiss up arm" action counted, but clearly not.
b) Another stalker, though this one didn't slouch.
c) Hugo rocking on the dartboard.
Oh look, the evil warlock (whose name I really need to remember) is back.
He ruins the moment by casting some heavy hail. Note that the stalker is the only one unaffected by it all.
Also note how Percy and Marquise react to this.
"Percy, protect me! I can't damage my sunglasses!"
"Oh dear, oh dear, this is not good."
The warlock's interference also stopped them short from advancing on their date. Ah well, at least it wasn't bad.
And it looks like magic won't show up on the first generation of Prettyfaces now. Thanks a lot, warlock.
After I made Percy drink a few gallons of coffee to get some extra energy (and use the bathroom to avoid accidents) I had him ask Marquise for another date.
Things seem to be going really well, even if his inability to close his eyes properly make him look a bit creepy.
We interrupt the report on Percy's love life to announce the arrival of the nice warlock, who fixed the damages of the evil counterpart by filling the place with rays of sunshine and lifting everybody else's mood.
I sure hope you're talking about your wife there, young man.
Success!
Her enthusiasm is a bit creepy, though.
Double success!
When Percy returned home, I decided to make him dig for treasure again. He still has bills to pay.
Things seem to be going pretty well for him, as this was way beyond what I expected!
With the money Percy got from selling the treasure chest, I finally gave the place proper flooring - but I was also able to get him windows, better furniture and appliances for the kitchen...
...the bathroom...
...and the bedroom.
I also got him the phone, but the computer remains on the dining table because he ran out of money after that. Don't worry, though, the bills got paid.
As I was sending Percy to bed before he crashed from spending a whole night up, Marquise showed up with the dream date bouquet.
She came back, this time for a visit...
...at nearly 2am.
I took Percy out of bed and had him greet her.
She returned the gesture...
...and scarpered off.
I think she might be insane. It just makes me more curious to see what she'll be like as a spouse, though.
Ah well, since he was up, I might as well let him look for a job opening.
Finally! It was the last offer of the day, too, so I wasn't expecting to have any success by this point.
And now, it was time to let Percy catch up on his sleep. He needs to get into a more or less regular sleep pattern, after all.
And that's it for now. Thank you for reading!
