Liquid Latex

I actually got to be a painter for Liquid Latex this year and to see half of the show (I had Caesar rehearsal for the other half). It was a really neat experience and (despite all of the reasons why I'm sure it's terrible for the environment and all that) I was inspired to create my own piece. It was only today, but I'm already figuring out a lot of the details of the piece I'd like to do. I would choreograph and design it (though I'm not opposed to collaboration) and the story would be "A Midsummer Night's Dream". The latex paint would designate magic and magical folk, so Oberon, Titania, and Puck would all be in full latex. The four lovers would be in clothes (of some particular period/style - possibly modern) and so would Bottom. When Bottom and the two male lovers are bewitched by Oberon/Puck, they will remove either part of their clothing (likely their shirt) or all of it (depending on what the dancers are up for) and reveal latex paint underneath, showing that they have been enchanted by the magic. The two female lovers will remain normally clothed the whole time. I already have a few friends who have expressed interest in being part of this and I don't think that it would be hard to find the full 8 needed. It would be fun and beautiful. I already have some people in mind for certain parts (though, it's just an idle musing, nothing more). I have always wanted to try choreographing a full non-couples dance piece, and I feel like this would be the perfect way to start because the story is already written and known to the audience (though, I wouldn't have to follow it very closely if I didn't want to). I think that I could effectively portray the characters and their interactions through my choreography because they speak to me so clearly. I'm so excited! I'm already contemplating colors and paint designs and choreography! Hopefully my enthusiasm doesn't wane too much during the intervening year...
