I completely forgot how much going into shock takes out of a person. I took a pretty nasty fall on the way to work this morning. I had TheKid with me, as she has no school and as we were about to cross a street when I slipped and landed fully on my already busted up knee. So now my knee is less "knee shaped" than it was before >_<. I'm swollen from my lower thigh to mid calf and sore as hell. Not going to stop working or anything smart like that, but I am a bit dazed and have a headache. Oh well, I'll live. I'm just waiting for the cool ass bruise to show up :D.
As I said TheKid has no school today so she is stuck here at work with me. Poor thing, nothing but a basement board room with leather chairs all to herself, full cable with cartoons running all day, whatever games or books she brought to entertain her, and juice and a hot lunch to eat. Wait a second... DAMMIT, I want to be a kid again :(. The reason she is off today is that it's parent teacher interviews again. We got her report card earlier this week, and her grades were down a bit. Not because she is not understanding the work, but because she is not handing in her homework. We had already had a chat with her about getting one project done, but it seems that there were more that that one project that she was not handing in. She was still proud of her grades, as they are mostly a/b/high c's, but then realised that not handing in homework was not going to cut it with us. We went over her report card, and she saw how not getting in her homework really effected her grades, so we set up her goals for next grading period and she's really enthusiastic about getting better in school. I remember when I was young, and I didn't get good grades, all I got was yelled at, not advise. The advise giving seems to work better :P.
Well, back to work for me. Just wanted to post again while I was on a short lunch. (eating at my desk as the lady I work with is not in today. Her father is in town.)
