So I woke up at 2:30 in the morning... was having minor contractions every 10 minutes, so stayed up the rest of the morning timing them to see if anything changed. Then, after Tom left for work, I started vomitting. loads. I couldn't even keep down water. Contractions kept coming at regular 10 minute intervals throughout the day. The midwife advised me to try dry toast... it came straight back up. gross.
I'd originally had an appointment to see the midwife around 2, so I went in, got examined and found out that despite the regularity of these contractions I'm not actually in labour. In fact, the baby's head STILL hasn't moved from where it was 6 weeks ago! I was again advised to try to eat something and to call the labour ward around 6 -7 pm if things stayed the same... or if they progressed... but that there was a chance that the contractions would stop.
Got home. Had oatmeal and a pain-killer. Grossness ensued. Contractions continued and occasionally even got a bit closer together, so we called the labour ward and were told that since the contractions were so mild and far apart, they couldn't take me in for that, but that if I was even remotely close to actual labour the vomiting would be an issue.
So we spent 5 hours in the hospital watching the clock while I had blood taken and was put on an IV drip due to dehydration. 2 litres. Once Tom ran out of work to do and random video trailers and cooking shows to watch on his laptop, he started running around like a bored 5 year old, opening drawers, playing with medical supplies, pretending to tap-dance, and fiddling with knobs. The contractions were stupid and annoying. They'd stay at 10 minute intervals for ages, then go down to 5 for about an hour, then go back to ten, down to five, even 3 for a 20 minute period, but always back to 10, never strong enough to do anything about, and just short of the length they would need to be to get me considered for any real action.
Then the docs came in and informed me that the vomiting looked to be caused by one of those 24 hr viruses, not linked to labour at all. So it was just coincidence that it started shortly after these contractions. So after the fluid was absorbed, I was given an injection to prevent any further sickness and sent on my way. We got home around midnight.

Now, today the contractions have nearly stopped. I think I've had 3 all morning. Why won't this kid come out?!
