snapshot of a freak

Well, freak might be overstating it a bit. But consider:

1. I am BEYOND excited about the season premiere of "The Girls Next Door" this coming Sunday night (at 9PM EST on the E! Channel). I'm betting a 34-year-old married mother of two is not their target audience.

2. I was watching the TV show "Inside Edition" tonight with my dad and they were showing Hugh Hefner talking about the new Playmate book he is publishing. This book showed the pictures of all the playmates from back when the magazine started through now. Anyway, Inside Edition did a little "Where are they now?" with some of the playmates, and they showed this woman who was a playmate in the 1960's and both my dad and I said, in unison, "Ewwww." Then I looked at my dad and said, "Time has not been her friend." My dad said, "No kidding." So I'm bonding with my dad over some now-ugly formerly naked woman. Plus: I know way too much about Hef.

I'm wondering if this is proof that there is a tiny little man-child hanging out somewhere in my psyche, perking up when I watch the Red Sox and cheering when I throw back a cocktail (but secretly longing for a Guiness). Also, I think this little man likes Angelina Jolie. Something to consider, I'd say.

Another oddity: My daughter adores Emeril Lagasse. She's watching "Emeril Live" right now. She calls him The Cooking Man. Perhaps it's his Massachusetts accent she loves, I have no idea. The appeal of this man to a 2 1/2 year old girl is beyond me. To be fair, she comes by it somewhat naturally, as my mother worships at the altar of Rachel Ray.

Awww, spell check doesn't recognize how to spell "Sox?" Dude, you can't be serious.
