I watched the pilots for Ringer and The Secret Circle last week, and I wasn't that impressed by either of them. I found Ringer mostly boring (plus I'm not the biggest SMG fan, even though I did like Buffy), and the only thing I really enjoyed about TSC was Gale Harold's character. I'm gonna give both shows a few more episodes, though, because I know from experience that you can't judge a show by its pilot. I mean, I didn't like The Vampire Diaries at first either, and now it's one of my favourite shows.

And speaking of TVD...

I really enjoyed the season premiere. I've been excited for ripper!Stefan since the s2 finale, and so far I'm not disappointed (although I did roll my eyes at the Stefan/Elena scene). I hope they're going to take their time to really explore Stefan's dark side instead of bringing him back to the light after three episodes, not just because I find dark!Stefan way more interesting, but also because I ship Stefan/Klaus like my life depends on it. I just find their relationship intriguing as hell. I mean, why exactly is Klaus so interested in Stefan out of all people? I'm pretty sure he could have any vampire boyfriend companion he wanted, but he chose Stefan. I mean, sure, Stefan was a convenient choice because he owed Klaus for saving his brother, but if Klaus hadn't already been interested in him, he would have never agreed to help him in the first place.

I recently rewatched the last two episodes of season 2, and in 2x21 when Stefan wants to sacrifice himself in Jenna's place, Klaus' reaction is basically, "Thanks, but no. I have other plans for you." Not to mention that he knew of Stefan's past as a ripper, which makes it appear as if Klaus had been a fan of Stefan's for a while, and he'd most likely been planning on getting Stefan to join his side one way or another. He probably rubbed his hands together in glee when he found out that Stefan was the doppelganger's boyfriend, because they were the two people he'd been searching for for years. Two birds with one stone, so to speak.

As for Stefan, I think he very much enjoys giving in to his true vampire nature. Sure, he feels guilty about it afterwards, but he does enjoy it. And I also think he likes the fact that he is being "forced" into it. That way he can both hate Klaus for making him do stuff that goes against his sense of morality, and at the same time it allows him to feel less guilty for enjoying it so much. Because he can always justify his behaviour by saying, "I didn't want to do it, Klaus made me," even though deep down he secretly loves it.

And another thing I love about them is that they are basically Louis and Lestat from the Vampire Chronicles (who are probably the slashiest vampires in the history of slashy vampires). I think I even read somewhere that Joseph Morgan based his interpretation of Klaus on Tom Cruise's Lestat. And Stefan is so obviously Louis, I mean it's a no-brainer. I haven't seen that movie in ages, though, so I think I'm gonna have to rewatch it now to see if I can find more parallels between them. :D
