I'm really not a racist...but....
I meant to post these awhile ago, but never got around to it...
Last year a boy and his dad (Carribbean Islander family, very nice people, kid's in a friend's class) came out and the boy was asking his dad to go to Chuck E Cheese. The dad said no as a crow said "Uh-uh" on the roof.
The boy asked again, the crow said uh-uh again.
I said "See? The crow is even agreeing with dad. He said no." This in itself is not racist...but I had to open my mouth.
"I wonder why crows are always so negative, it must be all the black they wear."
Story the second:
This year I have a 3rd grader for tutoring. He's a sweet kid, his family's from TN by way of the Middle East. Mom wears the hijab.
Y has just gotten his braces. We're talking about how they hurt, and the general ups and downs. This in itself is not racist...but I had to open my mouth.
"You're going to have trouble going through the airports now."
...It takes a lot of work to sound this bad.
