Chapter 15
Rainbow comes after rain
“His heart can’t take it anymore especially after the shock just now,” The doctor explained to Yuri. Yuri turned to the doctor.
“We have to do something before his heart weaken and stop beating,” The doctor said.
“Do you mean he needs another surgery?” Yuri asked as he saw Shintaro was lying on a bed in another recovery room.
“Well, as we didn’t have any donor I suggest he get an alternative heart,” The doctor said.
“However, alternative heart only last for 20 months,” The doctor continued explaining and looked at Yuri. Yuri didn’t answer. He couldn’t think straight now. Things that happened to Ryutaro and Shintaro in a time were too heavy for him.
“I need to go, excuse me.” The doctor went away leaving Yuri alone outside of the recovery room. Yuri looked at Shintaro face through the glass window. So innocent. Yuri wondered why Shintaro had to go through all this in such a young age.
“So that’s why you didn’t come,” Yuto said as he stood beside Ryosuke and listening to his story.
“I’m sorry, Yama-chan. If only I know earlier,” Yuto nodded down couldn’t continue his words.
“It’s okay. Mirai,” Ryosuke turned his eyes to Mirai when he called her. Mirai didn’t answer but she looked at Ryosuke.
“Cancel my request,” Ryosuke said and looked outside the window. Mirai smiled and nodded her head. Dragging Yuto here is not a bad idea after all. Mirai thought and continued smiling. Suddenly Ryosuke walked out of the house.
“Where are you going?” Yuto asked.
“Grant someone wish,” Ryosuke answered and kept walking.
“Ryu, Shin-chan had a heart attack just now because he saw you like this,” Yuri said to Ryutaro who was lying on the bed. Yuri nodded down tried to hold his tears but at last it fell. He holds Ryutaro hand.
“Please wake up. Don’t leave me alone like this, facing with Shin-chan’s disease and all.” Yuri looked deeply at Ryutaro deep sleep face. The tears dropped slowly on the white sheet of the bed.
“I’m not that strong,” Yuri said in a low voice nodding down tighten his hold at Ryutaro hand and cried silently at his side.
A sound of steps suddenly heard. Yuri turned to the entrance and saw Ryosuke was standing there.
“What do you want?” Yuri asked harshly. He was still blaming Chess for this.
“Here,” Ryosuke gave Yuri an envelope. Yuri glared at Ryosuke with his red puffy eyes and took it. He opened it and took out a paper. Yuri read it.
“This is…” Yuri lifted up his head and faced Ryosuke.
“His last will,” Ryosuke answered. Yuri shocked to hear that from Ryosuke.
“That is an agreement that stated he will donate his heart to Shintaro if he dies. You’ll need this to save Shintaro life,” Ryosuke said coldly.
“NO! Ryu will live and I’ll find another donor for Shin-chan,” Yuri said confidently.
“Rainbow comes after rain, Ryutaro always say that.” Ryosuke said boldly before he walked out of the recovery room.
*Flashback
The rain fell heavily that day and Ryutaro was crying silently beside the window when Yuri suddenly came to him. Yuri patted Ryutaro shoulder. Ryutaro turned his head to Yuri.
“I lost the only person that I can talk too,” Ryutaro said to Yuri in hiccup.
“No, you still can talk to me,” Yuri said gently.
“How will I survive without her?” Ryutaro was still in tears.
“You will. You’re not alone. You have Shin-chan and me,” Yuri said and looked into Ryutaro’s eyes. Ryutaro didn’t answer.
“Maybe something better will come,” Yuri said and looked outside the window as the rain had stopped. A beautiful rainbow was formed at the sky below the cloud.
“Like the rainbow which comes after rain,” Yuri pointed at the rainbow and successfully made Ryutaro smiled.
*End flashback.
“I know you’ll be here,” Mirai said when Ryosuke was standing in front of her at a path in the hospital.
“So?” Ryosuke kept walking leave Mirai behind.
“Do you think Ryutaro can’t survive?” Mirai asked as she chased Ryosuke. Ryosuke didn’t answer he just kept walking.
“Don’t you have faith in him? Believing a miracle will happen,” Mirai asked as she faster her steps.
“He is your friend, right?” Mirai tried to follow Ryosuke phase. Ryosuke stopped his steps and looked at Mirai coldly.
“What?” Mirai confused when Ryosuke looked at her that way.
“Can you stop interfere my life?” Ryosuke asked Mirai boldly. Mirai was shocked.
“I’m sorry,” Mirai apologized as she remembered that she and Ryosuke were not related in any relation. They’re not even friend. Ryosuke continued his steps and walked out of the hospital while Mirai just looked him from far.
The day was turning dark as the sun was dying.
“I wondered what happened to those guys, they didn’t return yet,” Hikaru said to Kota who was sitting on the couch reading a magazine. Hikaru kept wandering around the living room.
“Could you stop worrying? They’re not a little kid anymore,” Kota said behind the magazine.
“I had a bad instinct about Ryutaro especially,” Hikaru stopped wandering and sat beside Kota.
“Ryutaro is in the hospital,” Keito suddenly came out from no where.
“Eh? How is he?” Hikaru asked turning his head to Keito. Kota stopped reading his magazine a little bit shocked with the news.
“Critical, no chance to survive.” Keito answered boldly but actually he was sad that his fighting partner was going to die soon. Ryutaro was the only person who he could tease and truly he was about to cry.
Hikaru didn’t say anything and so did Kota. The silent moment last for a while until Ryosuke stepped in the room.
“Tadaima,” Ryosuke said and quickly went to the stairs.
“Okairi,” Hikaru answered and started walking to the kitchen when he remembered that he had to serve the dinner.
“Hikaru,” Ryosuke suddenly called before he reached the upper floor.
“Yes,” Hikaru turned his head towards Ryosuke.
“About Ryutaro hamster,” Rysouke said. Hikaru just nodded his head.
“He wants you to take care of it,” Ryosuke said and walked upstairs.
