Quote of the day...or century idk.

So I was reading this article about someone who just turned 30 and the advice he would have given to himself in his 20s. There was this one paragraph that stuck me:

"Humans are, by and large, the same. It’s just the details that get shuffled around. This homeland for that homeland. This corrupt government for that corrupt government. This religion for that religion. This social practice for that social practice. Most of the differences that we hold to be so significant are accidental byproducts of geography and history. They’re superficial - merely different cultural flavors of the same overarching, candy-coated humanity....I’ve learned to judge people not by who they are, but by what they do." Via (x)

I was talking to an international student and we were on the topic of culture and image and I happened to blurt out "people are people, I think" to which the girl laughed increduluously "really?". At the time I couldn't expand on what I meant and then I came across this paragraph and there it was, what I should've been able to say but didn't (in a less eloquent way that is).
