Oh D_M

Alright, sometimes when I look over through the characters at dear_mun I see people who play the characters I play. And then right away I feel all disgusted with myself because I'm looking at these characters and going "wait...so-and-so wouldn't do that or react that way." I don't think there's anything wrong with having some pride in how you interpret someone, or disagreeing with how someone else does. It's not necessarily a judgment on another player as a person or anything.

When I see someone else playing or writing a character I play or write I often feel that way. Like alienchrist said, there's nothing wrong with taking pride in what you do. You work hard at your characterisation, you know your characters intimately, you put a lot of effort into them. It's like a scholarly disagreement over interpretation of a particular point of history or something: it's something you care about and there's nothing wrong with a disagreement with someone else's interpretation.

You know what? I hardly ever read fanfic anymore, and part of the reason is that I feel so dissatisfied when I see fic that's otherwise good but that disagrees with my feelings about a character.

Also, *hugs*
