Gatecon Part 1
I've decided that if I wait until I have a large enough chunk of time to write about Gatecon, it will never happen. So you will get bits and pieces of the con as I have time.
During one of Richard Dean Anderson's talks,
he mentioned how he picked out his new puppy. Apparently, there were about 3 litters available at the same time. So they released them all and he laid down on the floor. He had about 14 puppies crawling all over him, jumping, climbing, licking, etc. But there was one puppy who stood back and observed him. Mr. Anderson got up off the floor, wiped the slobber off himself, and went to that puppy. RDA said that he doesn't pick the puppy, he waits until it picks him. He fell in love with Andee and the rest is history.
RDA shared about his experiences with Paparazzi. In one instance, he was walking downstairs when someone rudely and forcefully grabbed his arm (or shoved him). At the same time that he was turning around to see who it was, the rude photographer shouted out, "Call me an a__hole!" and then shot a picture. RDA didn't even have time to react. He said he would have liked to comply with the request after the fact. Apparently, he lives near Pierce Brosnan. He did a very good imitation of Mr. Brosnan handling the photographers. (smile) He put his hand out, turned his head away, and said, "No, no!" with a British accent. It was quite funny. He also lives near Brittney Spears. He said that no human should be treated the way they treated that poor girl.
During one of his panels, RDA was goosed twice by the protrusions at the side of the stage. It was funny. We basically laughed a LOT. I'm sure it did a lot for his ego. But, he is a pretty funny guy. He took the microphone and acted as if it was an electric razor . . . complete with sound effects. The man was BUSY. My God! He has SO much energy. When Amanda Tapping was on stage with him, he was going off on a tangent. She begged us not to let it go on. "Please ask the next question. He'll keep going, you know." He said that people were always watching to see if he would get back onto the subject. All-in-all, a really nice man.
Did I mentions how HANDSOME he is???? OMG! I've never felt this way about anyone before, he . . . he has a really sexy neck. It's hard to explain, but I could drool over that neck for hours. We were sitting and waiting to have our autographs done, and all I could do was look at his neck. Astra was next to me, and she was also drooling. I didn't ask her what her turn on was, though. (grin)
Where was I? He was looking at a poster of SG1 and made funny comments about each person. CJ - a really big man; AT - not a man; MS - wanna be man. We all screamed at that one. I know that MS has made snarky comments about RDA at past con's like, 'Never act with children, animals, or RDA.' This was his chance to get back. It was hilarious because it was so unexpected.
At one point, I believe it was Dan Shea who rolled onto the stage. RDA was going long (I suspect because he was enjoying himself so much) and Dan was there probably to remind him to leave. Then Dan rolled back off the stage. I think at that point, RDA said that he was being 'understaged.' But then again, I could be mixing up that comment with another actor who came onto another panel. Hm! Maybe someone else remembers.
Okay. Now for the autograph session . . . . But wait! That will have to wait until tomorrow. (grin) Always keep em hangin'. I still can't believe he was looking at me and talking to me. I think I had an out of body experience. Seriously, I'll post about this one tomorrow.
