The Books of May

I almost forgot to post my May books! I had a very productive month readingwise, but not otherwise!

13)Dorrie: The Girl Nobody Loved by Doris -Christian autobiography about a girl who was abandoned by her father, then by her mother, and grew up in foster homes and suffered terrible abuse. She went on to trust in God, go to college, marry a preacher and become one of the first missionaries in the interior of New Guinea. I really enjoyed this story, especially the New Guinea parts.

14)Paragon Lost
15)Lord of the Fire Lands
16)Sky of Swords
17)The Gilded Chain-all by Dave Duncan-These are all part of the King's Blades series. I list them in the order I read them, but be warned that it's not the order they are meant to be read in! Actually, I had read The Gilded Chain several years ago, but none of the rest of the series. So after I did read more I went back and reread it to refresh my memory. I'm still working on the rest of the books. Dave Duncan is AWESOME!!! I actually looked him up to see if he would be at any conventions so I could met him. Sadly the only one he's going to is in New York and it's massively expensive to boot! Boo. Lord of the Fire Lands is by far my favorite so far. It's actually a retelling of Hamlet, though I didn't figure that out until I was 1/2 way through. Also, it's quite a complex story in it's own right and has lots of elaborate puns hidden in it. Sky of Swords is tragic, but enjoyable b/c of all it's puns. How could I not get all fangirly over Dave Duncan?? I love puns, especially bad ones! Hubby can only blame himself b/c he introduced me to the books!

18)Much Ado About You by Eloisa James-A fun, frothy, historical romance novel.

19)Easy Adobe Premiere Elements -One of those guides for the computer illiterate. I'm not quite illiterate, but I learned quite a bit anyway which resulted in the Nothing Left amv.

20)The Abducted Alchemist -I don't remember the author, but this is the second of the novels written for Full Metal Alchemist. It wasn't particularly well written, but it was a pleasant and quick read. Interestingly, the relationship btwn Mustang and Ed in this was very friendly and even father/son-ish without the constant taunting of the anime. I haven't read the manga so perhaps it's more like that?

I'm almost halfway to 50!
