Norwich Free Academy, class of 1969. Our 50th--the theme is "We are Stardust, we are Golden." It's our Golden Anniversary, anyway.
I volunteered four years ago to chair it, and it's been a lot of work (of course). I'm thankful that, unlike many of my other volunteer jobs, the work hasn't all fallen to me. Others have done more. Now that we're in the final four weeks, though, I'm more troubled by worries. Some things I can't control--like the weather for graduation, or the slowness of my classmates to return their response cards. Some I can--like practicing for the recital I'll be accompanying.
Yes, this one is open to the public on Saturday June 15 at 1 pm. Send me a message for details. It features our class's most famous member, Charles Pikler, who has had an international career as a violinist and violist, retiring recently as principal viola of the Chicago Symphony. It will be the first time we've played together in 50 years--and the first time I've played serious music onstage in nearly that long. I have to play the actual notes that Schubert and Bloch wrote--what a concept!
The other events are mainly of interest to our class, but it's a full schedule from Wednesday to Sunday--it's like running a regional SF convention, or an SCA event--which is why I was chosen to chair.
