The Dark Knight, 7th Viewing

Aug 19, 2008 17:06

This time around feels super special because not only it's been a while since my last viewing (OK fine, maybe it hasn't been that long but it feels like eternity to me!) but I also finally succeeded in getting my parents to watch The Dark Knight! And the satisfaction was overwhelming because they really loved it and had only great things to say about it.

I didn't plan to watch TDK yesterday, in fact I started out planning to watch this Thai horror movie 4BIA with my two deranged horror-loving cousins (this is actually the only one trait where I differ from them, in other areas we totally have the same taste and exhibit the same behaviors, likes and dislikes) I really didn't have anything else planned so I got no other valid excuses aside playing the "I hate horror!" card, so I thought, OK maybe I'll give it a try. But God is good, because sometime during lunch my dad suddenly said the magic words: "Hey, let's watch Batman today!" and so that's BYE BYE THAI HORROR FILM for me! I did get to hang out with them for a few hours before their movie and they kept poking fun at me saying, "Are you like secretly relieved you don't have to watch the horror movie!!" Well, to tell you the truth, I WAS! XD

It's amusing to hear my parents' odd responses throughout the movie though. They laughed at every single Joker scene but the funniest part was they both laughed A LOT during the Batpod chase scene! Especially when the 18-wheeler truck flipped, and there was that dramatic silence, the two of them were like LOL-ing like mad and I ended up laughing too because it's too funny hearing them LOL-ing together XD Actually, I think they both laughed a lot during the violent and/or destruction scenes. Now I see where I got that from. And my dad practically belted a super loud "OH SH1111T!" when Bruce's Lamborghini was totaled. That was too hilarious! And my mom kept referring to the Joker as "The Clown" instead of calling him "The Joker". Like after The Joker was caught and held in MCU's holding, she leaned over to me and said: "I bet the Clown is gonna somehow escape again after this." and when the end credits rolled she said: "So they caught the Clown? He's just gonna escape again anyway." Thud. She really said the english word "clown" and not like, "badut" (which is the Indonesian word for clown) but the rest of her sentence was in Indonesian! So basically what she said was kind like: "Abis ini pasti Clown-nya kabur lagi deh." or "Terus jadi akhirnya Clown-nya ketangkep? Ntar juga kabur lagi." LOL XD

When was my last TDK again? Oh yeah, how could I forget? It was on 08/08/08! So it's been 10 days since my 6th viewing? I swear I got some serious case of goosebumps during (particularly) these 3 scenes: 1. Operation Skyhook, 2. Bruce Wayne dismantling shotgun during Joker attack, 3. Batpod ejects out of Batmobile. Others too but, particularly those three. Sigh.

Will there be an 8th? Right now I'm not going to plan anything, it's not that I felt like I've had enough (it's never going to be enough, really), but I'm gonna let this 7th one sit for awhile and until the cravings develop into major withdrawal. To a point where TDK deprivation will leave you in tears or enraged. Unless of course it's no longer in theaters. Weeps.
