Squee Weekend the Fifth!
It's amazing to think this is the 5th year for Squee Weekend. Five years of SGA Squee, five years of meeting amazing Stargate Atlantis fans, five years of episode re-watching and thought-provoking discussion... five years of fun and lasting friendships!
What: A weekend (or more - come early, stay late) of Stargate Atlantis squee... watching favorite episodes, discussing favorite episodes (and other various topics of interest), watching and discussing our favorite characters and more. No set agenda, just a weekend getaway with lots of food, drink, talk and laughter. Contrary to popular belief, we are not a bunch of drunken revelers (I mean, nobody's been arrested yet… although we have been known to clear public patios in record time). While there may be adult beverages consumed, don't feel this leaves you out if you're a teetotaler - if you're a fangirl/fanboy, that's all that matters.
When: September 12-14, 2014. Some of us arrive early and hang around for a while once the weekend is over, so feel free to join us. The weather should be lovely for those discussions around the firepit.
Where: Beautiful Greenville, South Carolina. The hotel is mere minutes from the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP), which is served by Delta, United, Southwest and US Air and is readily accessible by car. (fangirls (and boy)) will be available for airport shuttle service). We've secured a block of rooms at the Residence Inn by Marriott. This year's special rates are: $109 per night for the Studios and 1-BR suites; $139 per night for 2-BR suites. (note: they can only make 4 of the 2-BR suites available to us at this rate) Room rates include a full breakfast buffet every day and happy hour M-Thu with food and beverages. High speed internet access and WiFi are also included. All rooms include fully equipped kitchenette and pullout sofa bed so sharing is definitely a possibility (if that makes it easier for you).
There are several areas of the hotel suitable for breakout discussions, a chance to catch your breath, or just to take a walk. Like I said, there's no agenda or set schedule - it's tres organic. We're also close to shopping, food, restaurants, and caffeine! But don't think you're right in the middle of it - the hotel is situated so that it's off the main roadways.

It's nice to know as the SGA fandom waxes and wanes that there are still folk out there who love the show and want to get together and talk about it. Not that we don't go off on tangents into other things: writing, reading, coffee, food, Rodney McKay's ass and why it should be worshipped… well, you get the idea. One thing's certain - we have loads of fun and we hope you'll consider joining us this year!
