So, I am reccing many fics--partly because I've read some seriously incredible ones lately, and partly because I have way to many tabs and I need to get rid of them so I can start focussing on work.
I hope you enjoy...?
Glee Fics...
Catharsis, by
shia_labeouf (vaguely NC-17): a post-TFT fic, in which handjobs descend into a weepy Blaine, and everything is angsty, but also very sweet. I've read it several times over and it's just lovely--cathartic, if you will forgive my lameness.
You Should Know Better by
what_larks (PG-13): another TFT Blaine!fic. It is full of angst, because Blaine, and also full of beautiful words and boys who love each other. All of which I wholeheartedly support. And it hurts, but, in the end, Kurt fixes everything.
The Goggles Do Nothing by
lls_mutant (R): Finn and Kurt walk in on Burt and Carole having really awesome sex. It's awkward and hilarious and sweet, and I absolutely adore Burole fic, and Burole getting their thang on, etc. Fic also features a very distressed Blaine and GPS-penises.
Illegitimi Non Carborundum by
what_larks (PG-13): a thinky Christmas Special fic, in which Artie and Kurt come to a mutual decision to fuck shit up as necessary (I support this alliance so hard). The end is genius and hilarious, and the Latin in the title made me laugh a lot.
Ga(y)me Night by
supergreak (PG): Dave proposes an 'undercover' gay-straight alliance with Kurt, which primarily consists of hardcore Settlers of Catan and Monopoly marathons. More people join, they make a difference, it's very awesome. (The first thing Kurt says in the whole fic is also unintentionally all of the Kurtofsky angst ever.) It's a really lovely gen fic over all.
This is Your Hometown by
firstbreaths (PG): written for me for the Glee Gen Fest, and utterly, completely amazing. It's about Artie, and watching his friends leave McKinley, and thinking about his future, and being an all-round BAMF, really. It's wonderfully and quietly written, and a really interesting look at the concept of "Lima Losers", and basically I love everything about it. I have to thank firstbreaths once again for how incredible it is, and implore everyone to read it now.
I'd also like to tell everyone to read every single fic from the Gen Fest, everyone wrote such incredible things. Guh, I love this fandom sometimes.
And I'm just going to go ahead and rec
every Glee fic that
herostratic has written. Seriously amazing smut, much of which I think could be classified as "Thinky Kinky".
Her crossdressing fic,
Dress You Up In My Love, is a perfect example of that,
and I'm kind of enamoured with her 50's AU,
Good (You Know What I Mean).
for decisions and revisions which a minute will reverse (part 5/6) by
geordie_lover (R): I was so very close to starting writing a Klaine Sherlock AU... and then I found this amazing one, and now I no longer need to! The characterisation is done quite well (Kurt and Blaine aren't just Sherlock and John with different names) and the end is lovely. Karofsky is Anderson, it's very brilliant. (Also gets extra point for that title.)
Sherlock Fics...
Duvet (green) by
mazarin221b (R): Sherlock decides to renovate his Mind Palace. It's one of the few Sherlock/John slash stories I've read and enjoyed from this season (which is saying something, as I'm not really a big fan of pairing them sexually), and it does a very good job at looking at Sherlock's mental processes.
My Heart Was Very Still by
irisbleufic(R): a post-Hounds fic, in which the residents of 221B are shaken and feel a lot of things, John is looking for a way in. Very intelligent and beautiful, tense prose (as is always the case with her fic), and a really haunting and subtle piece. (Note: implied slash.)
Called Out In The Dark by
irisbleufic(R): semi-text!fic, the first in a series, the rest of which I cannot wait to read. What happens after Reichenbach, between Molly, Mycroft, Lestrade, and Sherlock--and the things everyone does for Sherlock Holmes. Painful and lovely, and god I love a good Molly POV.
restless unheroic necessary by
gyzym(NC-17, really): pretty the best, most disturbing and incredible and insightful Moriarty fic I've ever read. Creepy as fuck and, wow, heed the warnings on it because seriously... but so well done and so very interesting to get inside his head like that. Sebastian, too, is written wonderfully (I'm really hoping they bring him in in some way next season).
(I love absolutely everything gyzym writes, and you should all go read her Inception fics, like, yesterday.)
I will likely think of a hundred more as soon as I post this. Oh well...
