Thoughts on Akira

What the fuck?

Also: does anyone that makes science fiction understand that evolution isn't a linear function; life doesn't naturally evolve towards something, it evolves away from what it was, based on the temporary shifts in its environment, you can't predict what evolution is going to do without knowing what traits are going to provide a new reproductive advantage or disadvantage. By saying something is the next phase of human evolution you prove you don't understand the words you speak, unless you anticipate the pressing need for mankind to be able to destroy Tokyo (again) using big flashy light-spheres that lead to other universes.

Yes, I suppose said big flashy light-spheres that lead to other universes, as well as the hideous dripping flesh-creature that towers over the stadium with total disregard for both the laws of biology and the central tenant of physics that matter can never be created nor destroyed, is probably a greater affront to science, but I can jibe with that in the name of plot.

Nicely dystopian, though. I will give them credit where it is due. I would so not enjoy living in Neo-Tokyo circa 2019.

Sidenote: Best website ever? Probably not; still, pretty sweet.

Japanese toons are weird, man...

anime, pedantry, evolution, movie
