1. Pretend you knew what would happen to you if you went (meaning, all that's happened so far), and you were made to choose between going to Texas for your MA or staying at home, which would you choose? Why?

Without a doubt, I'd come here. And if not here, then I would have gone to San Francisco. I just needed new challenges, new people, new ways to prove myself to myself. I was getting very bored professionally in the last years I was living at home. I really want stuff to happen for me, and I have to go where that stuff happens. This is why I am contemplating another move in two or so years.

2. What is your biggest indulgence?

Continuing voice lessons. It costs me mucho moolah a month, but I still do it. I have to stop in the summer because I have no teaching income, but I get right back to it in the fall.

3. Which aria is the most "you"?

It changes but for right now, I think I'll pick Cleopatra's aria from Handel's Giulio Cesare.  She sings it at the end of her life, when she realizes she has lost the battle for the throne and she must now die.  It's a long da capo aria, but such a moment.  I like going through her entire transformation from defeated yet proud queen to angry bitch to broken woman.  At least, that's how I do it.  I also like how this aria shows all these facets of her, as I have found that I am quite the multi-faceted person myself.  It comes from having opposing signs for your sun and moon signs, I guess.  And of course I like the opportunity to ornament.  Because I'm such a nerd.

4. What is the hardest part of living on your own in a foreign land?

Not having someone to make you meals if you're sick or your back gives out.  If you want to eat, you have to get up and do it yourself.  Even if I lived alone at home, I could always park my ass at home for the duration, or Mama would come over and make it all better.  Or she'd send the maid, hahaha.

5. What do you miss most about home?

Family, friends, and food.  In that order.  :)
