It's a white and a black thing,
That's what you said,
This hollow statement you have trapped in your head,
You were angry, But I was angrier,
There was violence thick in the air,
It's about a white and a black thing,
No sir, It's about a human thing.
How did it feel?
Staring into my eyes and seeing death,
How did it feel?
Knowing what would come, you shied away,
How did it feel?
Knowing at that moment you were not superior.
But see, that's what shows you it was not a white and a black thing,
That moment, The fear in your eyes,
You were the aggressor turned into the submitted,
It's about a you smaller thing and I'm not what you think,
Here in this place, your home, Your ghetto,
Here where you are supposed to be the unflinching,
You flinched but what caused it,
What made you run.
We need to turn back time and undo this pain,
We need to stop the prolonging of it's rule,
There should be no white and black thing,
There should be no difference at all dependent on skin,
We cannot move forward with this weight on our shoulders,
Your racism sir was as present as any other,
So why did you run away like a scared dog in the face of it,
What caused you to flee, That hateful speech you spoke,
Turned to a mouse in the light scurrying for the dark,
I submit but truth to thee this must end.
We teach the thought of peace but march the path of war,
We teach acceptance but embrace separation,
This is what we guide our lives with,
You have yours and I have mine shit,
And I think you've gone down a path to an end,
That end is a bloody one and it shouldn't be,
You meek and quiet were quite charming,
You could have been a friend,
And when I embraced you both quivering and spoke
You knew the truth then,
It's not about a white and a black thing my friend,
It's about a human thing.
