More Hiking!

Today, Kathryn and I went hiking with a 20s and 30s group out to Cedar Falls, just east of Ramona. Cedar falls is the tallest waterfall in the San Diego area, coming in at a little over 100 feet, and it splashes down into a "punch bowl" which is deep enough to do cliff diving into when water is coming over the falls. Some of the people on the hike were crazy enough to do just that, and all of the dogs were.

The fun thing about the hike is that in order to get there, we had to ford two creeks that are normally about ankle-deep. Well, with Thursday's rainstorm and snow accumulation, the creek was knee-deep. And cold. And flowing quite nicely. It was loads of fun listening to people complain about crossing a little chilly water, despite the fact the introductory message on the hike said loud and clear that it was necessary to get to the falls.

The sucky thing about this hike is that it starts with a ~900 foot drop into a valley. Which means the last thing you have to do is hike back out. Kathryn and I were both pretty tired by the time we hit the top.

Oh yeah, I also got sunburned. So now I have burn lines around where my sun glasses sit, and another burn line on my forehead where my bandana stopped protecting my head. I really hope the burn goes away before my three hour interview scheduled for Tuesday.
