BaCC Week 2: The Golden Family

Jul 18, 2011 01:30

Last entry was about how Wallis and June moved in together on monday of the second week. This entry is about Peggy and Darin.

SQUEE!

I will document their whole week, rather than just the first monday as I originally had planned. BUT, it will include a small interlude.

Darin did everything except basically hammer into my head the fact that he didn't like being a Romance sim. So the first thing I did upon playing his house was change his aspiration. I never do this, really, but Darin was the worst Romance sim in history.

He then spent the day waiting for seven o'clock to roll around.

My vampire outcast is not such an outcast anymore :D She's even joined in on the gossiping that's so hot around town!

When Darin and Peggy first started flirting and kissing I was overjoyed. They fell in love autonomously and everything. And since Peggy is a Family Sim, the logical thing to do was move them in together.

And of course fulfill the want that both of them had rolled during their week of courtship:

No huge wedding party for them, both just wanted to get married on the spot.

Next item on the agenda:

Start Peggy's flower shop! As the tiny family have very little money, it's a home business for the time being. But this means that townies are unlocked, since Peggy and Josephine are best friends. Since the original settlement was so small, it was very nice having a few additional sims running around.

First townie sighting!

Peggy happily spends her nights making flowers. Her secondary aspiration is fortune, so she actually wants to gain rank, customer stars and badges. And she never gets tired, being a vampire and all.

She's really good at this business-thing too. It was meant to be.

I wanted Darin to get a position in the science career, since his OTH is Science. He's already maxed logic, and is working towards a Gold Robotics Badge.

Life is good for the Golden family.

Though being married to a vampire has its ... peculiarities.

All on his own, Darin started changing his sleeping habits. He sleeps during the day and stays awake during the night, thus being able to spend as much time as possible with his wife. I found this unbelivably adorable :D

Now - for the small interlude.

I'm a silly sim player, so after playing the first couple of days at the Golden household, I swung by Cameron's, who's living alone, now that both Wallis and Lawrence have moved out.

I wanted to try something. It didn't go so well...

Cameron took over the small garden patch that Wallis left behind. He was getting more and more bitter with the rest of the settlers, and wanted to show them he didn't need them.

He's the only one without a significant other. He's the only one who lives alone.

He's a grouchy sim, who loves stealing newspapers and pranking the rest of the sims. So instead of studying neutral magic, he decided he would turn to darker stuff.

I really wanted him to become the town's Evil Warlock. I wanted to try something I hadn't tried before.

The fire spell. I wanted to see if he could actually burn something down, and become a properly vindicitve warlock...

But what I didn't realise was that those acts of aggression must have been more a cry for help than anything else. Cameron was sad, rather than angry. Because he walked RIGHT INTO the small fire, before I could stop him.

The inevitable happened. And living alone, I had no one to plead for him.

This is the first time in YEARS I've had a sim die of fire. Grim even gave me a telling off!

Their small community just got smaller. And not a single settler grieved Cameron - no one even has a memory of it. Which makes me pretty sad :(

Not much to do about it however. Life goes on.

One good thing came of Cameron's misfortune. An unnatural death means that a position in the Journalism career opens up. And Peggy really wants to open a proper shop, away from home. But for that to happen, they need more money. So Wallis got a career in Journalism, rather than Science, since a Gold Robotics badge was far off.

Besides, the family is quickly growing!

Can I just say - pregnant vampires are absolutely brilliant. Peggy runs her shop and makes flowers all night, while being pregnant, without so much as breaking a sweat. She's epicness incarnate!

First day at work. Doesn't he look thrilled?

Peggy's shop is gaining popularity fast, which means that Darin has to help a bit. More customers means Peggy has to spend more time making sales and ringing up their wares. So Darin chips in with some restocking.

Still, in the midst of it all, they do find time for each other as well.

The happy day arrives!

And it's twins, a boy and a girl - Xavier and Ivy.

Peggy and Darin are extremely doting parents. Her shop and his career has been put a bit on the back burner for the time being.

Having twins can be quite the challenge, especially since Peggy can't take care of them during the day.

Having babies also means there's not a lot of time left over for visitors, but Wallis being the outgoing sim he his, regularily drops by his best friend.

Josephine almost burning down her house during Quinn's birthday party is the hottest of gossip.

Even if it makes Wallis a bit angry.

But he's easily appeased.

Soon, their birthday rolls around, and everyone is invited. Except Cameron of course - though no one seemed to notice he was missing...

Having unbelievably cute toddlers around does tend to make everything else seem insignificant of course.

Peggy: My kids can poop! And in a potty too! How great is that!

She just can't leave her kids alone, and is always playing with them.

During the day, Darin does most of the toddler training. He loves the company and happiness his children provide while his wife is asleep.

For Peggy, life is complete.

A last one of Ivy, because I haven't seen this interaction before, and it's the cutest thing ever :D

Also, I recently realised that my town doesn't really have a proper name. In game it's called Riverside, since I have nepheris ' neighbourhood template, but I can't very well call the BaCC that, when her's is called that. I'm really bad at naming things though. I stumbled into dictionary.com, and started looking through their Word of the Day. So in a fit of utter randomness the town's new name is Skylark Valley. La-di-da, kinda. It is nice to actually have a name for it though :)

peggy, bacc, darin
