Joel be doing not good distracty things

Jan 30, 2013 15:48

Well... the new years list is nearly a month late... and the last list is my most recent post.
Oh well, here we go.

1. What did you do in 2012 that you'd never done before?
- Bought a house. Got nominated for a major broadcasting award.

2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
- Nope. As per every other year.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
- A couple of vague acquaintances.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
- My nana, Feb 21. Two days after her 91st birthday.

5. What countries did you visit?
- Just stayed here.

6. What would you like to have in 2013 that you didn't have in 2012?
- I could use a new TV, but most of my wish list is cleared out now. :)

7. What date(s) from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
- The day Nana died. The night I went to ACRAs as a nominee. And October 9, the day I got the keys to my own house!

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
- Getting through the first half of the year was a heck of a trial.

9. What was your biggest failure?
- I honestly don't think there was anything major.

10. Did you suffer any illness or injury?
- Getting diagnosed with depression, which I managed to kick. I was lucky to be able to do that.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
- A house. And all the new stuff inside it.

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
- Nobody springs to mind

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
- Again, although I remember getting annyed at a lot of people, it's not worth dwelling on it.

14. Where did most of your money go?
- Books, DVDs, miniatures, magazines... same as ever. Plus furniture and homewares.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
- Getting my own place at last. And getting nominated for an ACRA. I didn't win, but that doesn't matter.

16. What song will always remind you of 2012?
- Just like last year, the music was really sucky. Though I won't be unhappy to never hear Guy Sebastian's 'Battle Scars' again.

17. Are you:
i. happier or sadder?
- Happier.

ii. thinner or fatter?
- A bit thinner, but still room for improvement.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
- My own writing. Not the job that's the problem, I'm just lazy about it when I get home.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
- Blaming myself for other people's mistakes.

20. How did you spend Christmas?
- Friends, family, lots of food.

21. Who did you spend the most time on the phone with?
- Various sales reps probably.

22. Did you fall in love in 2012?
- No, I don't think so.

23. How many one-night stands?
- None.

24. What was your favorite TV program? New stuff?
- The Doc obviously, Castle, QI, Community

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
- Not that I can think of.

26. What was the best book you read?
- Shada, by Gareth Roberts, based on the TV script written by Douglas Adams. An adaptation of the Doctor Who story they started to shoot, but never finished due to industrial action.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
- I don't think there was much new stuff this year.

28. What did you want and get?
- A house of my own.

29. What did you want and not get?
- Usual

30. What were your favorite films of this year?
- Skyfall, Ted, Avengers

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
- 33. It was a Saturday. I think we just went out for dinner.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
- Still the same as ever.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011?
- Jeans, t shirt, shorts, type combos. I do look good in a suit though. This year the t-shirts are getting funnier.

34. What kept you sane?
- Same old.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
- Alison Brie from Community.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
- Immigration. The way people tend to jump to one side or the other and scream an ill informed opinion. It's a complicated issue which can not be solved with sound bites and yelling.

37. Who did you miss?
- Nobody new.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
- Tyson probably. Didn't meet many new people this year. Although I did briefly meet Amanda Keller and she was very nice.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2012:
- Things have a way of working out.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
- These are the dreams of ordinary men.

There you go folks. Please feel free to do your own answers.
