FUNimation sure has come a long way. They announced at a couple cons this year, including
Anime Central, that they've become the top American dubbing company of the year & have sold more anime than any other dubbing company. They've become so big that their current headquarters has perhaps gotten too small for them & they need room to expand.
Well now word comes out that FUNi's leaving their current building near Fort Worth, Texas & will be buolding a brand new headquarters in nearby Flower Mound, Texas. The new place will have over 48,500 square feet of space. Compare that to 26,000 square feet their current building has, which they even share with other tenants. With this new headquarters, they'll have nearly twice the space & will be the only occupants inside as well. It's expected to be finished in October of this year.
Of course this can only mean good things for anime in America. With the top dubbing studio having more room to work, it means we'll be getting more anime our way too. A good year for FUNimation indeed.
