At Viz's panel at Anime Expo, they talked about a number of their Shonen Jump & Shojo Beat licenses. They talked about how the Naruto uncut boxsets require redubbing a lot of dialogue & creating new scripts for scenes. As such, they take awhile to get out. So while the edited Naruto DVDs will start being released monthly in October, there are no plans to change the speed of the uncut boxsets. The 2nd one, containing eps 14-25, is still scheduled to be released December 5th for around $50.
One Piece DVDs will now contain 5 episodes per DVD & be released bimonthly. They will still only contain the edited TV versions of the anime.
Bleach DVDs will start coming out in November & will be released bimonthly. The DVDs will contain 4 episodes each, be completely uncut, & sell for around $25. The opening & ending songs will also be subtitled. A preview DVD will be coming to subscribers in an upcoming Shonen Jump issue (woohoo!).
Another Nebs TV show, Full Moon wo Sagashite, is currently only being released on a quarterly schedule. The reason for this is because Viz is trying to pitch the show to TV networks. I think there's a good chance of Cartoon Network picking this show up & putting it on their Miguzi block.
The 4th & (so far) final InuYasha movie "Fire on the Mystic Island" will be released on August 1st, & different stores will have different extras with the DVD. Targets will have a cellphone charm, Waldenbooks will have lenticular covers, & Canadian Best Buys will have the soundtrack CD. All the special editions are limited, & the first 60,000 will contain a collector coin & coin case. The dub movie will first be seen on July 20 at Comic Con. The film was shown on Nebs TV last summer around this time.
