Website Thought Catalog has recently published a piece that closely exams the logistic problems surrounding the Pokemon video games. Putting the franchise under a microscope, the author scrutinizes specific details of the game that just don't make any darn sense. The five points she looks at specifically are:
- You Start the Game When You Are 10 Years Old
- There Are No Amenities for Human Beings in the Entire World
- The Number of Species of Pokémon Basically Doubles Every Year
- Alakazam’s IQ Is Supposed to be 10,000, yet He Can’t Escape the Captivity Imposed by a 10-Year-Old
- Everything Is Existentially Depressing
All fair points. I mean, who sends out a 10 year old into the world without any parental observation? Why are there shops, hospitals, & daycares for Pokemon, but not humans? How do all these new Pokemon just pop up every few years? I'm sure there are more oddities & inconsistencies in the PokeUniverse one could come up with, but these do make for a good start.
