Fifth Annual Seiyuu Awards
Japan’s Seiyuu Awards were back for a fifth year, with plenty of big names in the anime voice acting industry receiving top honors. As seems to happen quite a lot, last year’s best newcomer actress was this year’s best lead actress. But that’s not as surprising as this year’s decision to not award any male actor with the best actor award. I mean, what’s up with that? Did they just feel no male seiyuu did a good job within the past year? Regardless of that odd decision, you can check out all the winners below:
- Best Lead Actor: None
- Best Lead Actress: Aki Toyosaki (Yui in K-ON, Uiharu in Railgun, Tomo in Qwaser)
- Best Supporting Actor: Nobuhiko Okamoto (Takumi in Maid-sama, Eiji in Bakuman, Accelerator in Index); Kazuya Nakai (Zoro in One Piece, Toshiro in Gintama, Masamune in Sengoku Basara)
- Best Supporting Actress: Satomi Arai (Kuroko in Railgun, Narrator in Okamisan, Kozo in Nura); Kanae Ito (Saten in Railgun, Elcea in World God Only Knows, Sanae in Squid Girl)
- Best New Actor: Kouki Uchiyama (Links in Gundam UC, Natsuno in Shiki, Ichika in Infinite Stratos)
- Best New Actress: Hisako Kanemoto (Ika Musume in Squid Girl, Kanata in Soranowoto, Tomonori in Kore wa Zombie desu ka); Satomi Satou (Wendy in Fairy Tail, Manami in Oreimo, Ritsu in K-ON)
- Best Singing: Minori Chihara ("Yasashii Boukyaku" in Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya)
- Best Personality: Aki Toyosaki (Radion, Pl@net Sphere, Toyosaki Aki no Okaeri Radio)
- Kazue Takahashi Award: Mayumi Tanaka (Luffy in One Piece, Kuririn in DBZ, Kirimaru in Nintama Rantaro)
- Kids/Family Award: Junko Takeuchi (Naruto in Naruto, Endou in Inazuma Eleven, Rin in PreCure)
- Synergy Award: Detective Conan - Minami Takayama
- Overseas Fans Choice Award: Miyuki Sawashiro (Celty in Durarara, Saeko in Highschool of the Dead, Lag in Letter Bee)
- Special Merit Award: Nachi Nozawa (1938-2010)
