Evangelion 2.0's Australian Debut
It took awhile, but FUNimation announced at Otakon last weekend that they finally licensed Rebuild of Evangelion 2.0 for North American distribution. However, over in Australia they've had it licensed for sometime already. Not only that, but they'll be getting the chance to see it before us as well, as their annual anime film festival ReelAnime will be screening it beginning this month & through to the next. That's right, Australia once again gets the new Rebuild of Evangelion movie before the rest of us westerners do. Summer Wars, another anime film just licensed by Funi at Otakon last weekend, is also being screened as part of the festival.
Australia's premiere of Eva 2.0 was actually held today at the Dendy Newtown in Sydney. & they had two huge guests of honor to help celebrate- both the Japanese & English voices of Asuka: Yuko Miyamura & Tiffany Grant. It's pretty cool that the two of them flew all the way down to Australia to help celebrate, but I can;t help but feel insanely jealous that I wasn't there. >__>
