What does a 12 year old model & computer software have in common? Probably nothing, which is why it's puzzling that Ubuntu Magazine Japan's latest issue contained a photo shoot of the young Haruka Fukuhara, better known as the star of the anime/live-action crossbreed series
Cookin' Idol! Ai! Mai! Main! In addition to landing on the cover, the junior idol posed for several photos as a form of light gravure work, the kind of which we've
seen before.
I question if I really have to spell out why the readership of Ubuntu Magazine (which is mostly males in the young adult to middle age range) would be interested in having the 12 year star of a little girls' TV series pose in their magazine. Even though the show's target audience is children, it also has quite a strong older following in Japan. Older male following, to be specific. While many like it for the moe elements of the animated segments, others have a fondness for the live-action Main-chan as well. Broadcaster NHK has had to warn such fans to tone down their public affection for her, such as when 2ch frequently posts pictures of her pantsu, which she accidentally flashed on screen in one of the earlier episodes. Not long ago she did a short segment on the TV series "The Net Star" where she addressed her older fans, but was very polite & friendly to them.
