Yen Press has announced that their monthly manga anthology magazine, Yen Plus, will cease publication after the July 2010 issue. The final issue will be coming out approximately two years
after the magazine began. With Yen Plus now off the newsstands & Viz's Shojo Beat magazine
having ceased last year, that leaves Shonen Jump as the only print manga magazine left in the US. Subscribers who had any issues remaining after the July issue will have their money refunded. Hopefully they'll follow through on this, unlike what ADV did when they
canceled PiQ magazine & screwed over its subscribers.
However, all is not lost with Yen Plus. The magazine will live on, becoming an online-only magazine similar to Viz's
Sig Ikki & Shonen Sunday online manga mags. Details on the new version are skim at the moment. Yen Press does promise though that the new format will allow the magazine to expand. They hint that light novels are a good possible addition to the manga chapters, which would be pretty cool. It does appear that the e-magazine wont be free & that you'll need to subscribe to it, however. But if it's reasonably priced, that doesn't sound too bad to me.
