You just lost the game.
For a few scary hours last week, the whole World Wide Web was turned upside down in a tizzy. Out of the blue, for no apparent reason whatsoever, YouTube had removed the original
RickRoll video from their site. I don't know about you, but an Internet without RickRoll is not an Internet worth living in!
Luckily we can still go on, as it turned out the removal was a mistake on YouTube's part. After nearly a whole day of the 30+ million views video being down, it was restored just the way it had been left, & spammers can continue to troll n00bs by linking them to one of the greatest memes to ever exist. A YouTube spokesperson addressed the situation with the following response:
"With 20 hours of video uploaded every minute to YouTube, we count on our community members to know our Community Guidelines and to flag content they believe violates them. We review all flagged content quickly, and if we find that a video does violate the guidelines, we remove it, on average in under an hour. We also have a team that is dedicated to identifying and removing spam from YouTube. Occasionally, an account flagged by users or identified by our spam team is mistakenly taken down. When this is brought to our attention, we move quickly to take appropriate action, including restoring videos that had been mistakenly removed and channels that have been mistakenly suspended."
