The
second season of AnimeTV is finally here! It's been
nearly two years since season one ended, but now Johnny & the gang are back. Among the changes are new co-host
Cristina Vee (Aika in Aika R16, Louise in Familiar of Zero, Nanoha in Lyrical Nanoha,
Anime Olympics host), a new set, a revamped version of the opening song that doesn't want to make you tear your ears off anymore (no offense to
Kate Higgins of course, whom I love), & perhaps most interesting of all, this season is being hosted by the Internet streaming channel Revision3, the coolest place for geek videos out there (Diggnation, anyone?). The overall tone is also a bit more mature & not quite as goofy anymore, as previously hinted.
The first segment has the review team discussing what series they've been watching recently. You'll probably get a kick out of the fact that while two of the reviewers are gushing & nerding out over Naruto Shippuden, the other two look board with a look of "really?" on their face. Oh, & a Yu-Gi-Oh plug! Sweet!
The next segment takes a look at the studios of
Bang Zoom. Not too hard to do since they're the ones making AnimeTV, but never mind that. President Eric "Herman" Sherman (who I'm pretty sure has the same glasses I do, albeit in a different color) explains the history of the dubbing studio, why so many fans hate dubs, & more.
& finally the main segment, a review of Ghost in the Shell 2.0. Which of course is NOT the sequel movie "Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence," but rather a remastered & redubbed version of the original movie upscaled to Blu-ray. The confusion is brought up in the review too. There's even uncensored nudity in the review, so props for that. But their overall thoughts on the film? Well aside from Togusa isn't as cute here as he gets later on in the franchise, they overall thought that 2.0 was unnecessary & the original version is probably the one to go with. Check out the video above to see what they have to say. Until next week!
