A NEW New Year's Resolution

I thought my new year's resolution was to exercise more...

I've changed it to... get my son to sleep in his own bed.

I attempted this feat last night, not expecting great results.. and from what I read, it could take one to two weeks depending on how you do it. So I"m thinking if I actually get this to work, its going to take a month of bad bad sleep.

Last night, I tried to get Phin to lay in his own bed. He wouldn't do it. So here was my set up and compromise.

1) lights off
2) hallway nightlight on
3)classic baby symphony music for the proper mood?

Heather bought this gigantic stuffed moose that lays flat on Phin's bedroom floor. I laid er layed er lied whatever. I was on the moose next to Phin's bed and had to hold him until he fell asleep. Then I put Phin in the bed.

Phin slept from 9:30 to 11 pm. He woke up crying to get in our bed.

I got him back to sleep rather quickly and was back in my bed by 11:30 pm.

Phin woke up at 2:30 am crying. This time he didn't want to get in his bed after 2 unsuccessful attempts, I just help him and fell asleep on the moose until 3:45-4 a.m.

Phin was passed out, so I put him back into his bed and went back to my bedroom.

I slept really well from 4 am to 6:30 am.

As awful as last night was, I truly enjoyed sleeping in the bed (with my wife) for those last 21/2 hours.

Previously, for the past 6 months, Heather had been couch bound. Not by my choice, but her choice as she couldn't sleep with Phineas in the bed.

I pray I can get him to do this.

Anyone have any suggestions?  Remember he is only 2 and will kick and scream if I put him in the bed and jump out of the bed if he is conscious of the situation.  Gah.

phin, lack of sleep, sleep
