End of Week Six

Its the end of week six in our new house now and already I've started making lots of plans for Christmas, determined the kids will love what ever we end up doing together and what food I cook for our family feast.
Today I am cooking Chicken Vindaloo curry with tomato rice, salad and a vegetable bajee. Angelica and the kids went up the road to gather all the fresh ingredients including the Tamarind which I havent been able to buy in years as they just never had it in the north east. I still have to pinch myself that we can get fresh ingredients every day from just literally up the road from our house now, its still as exciting today as it was in the beginning when we arrived six weeks ago, I dont think I'll ever get bored of this little novelty as I just love cooking fresh food for my family every other day. Getting used to not making food for nine members of the household now, its been difficult adjusting to being without Lionel and Dom but there has not been so much left over rice and things over the past two weeks as I slowly adjusted to not cooking such large amounts as usual.
I have spent quite a bit of time on braiding new fibres over the last two days sitting in the downstairs wetroom bathroom. I kept laughing listening to all the different conversations that have been going on right outside the windows, everything from annoying bus drivers, shopping lists, house buying advice, kids - toddler tantrums - and general relationship squabbles. Its been like having a real life audiobook playing for me right next to where I was sitting on my chair with the windows open. Its taking a bit of getting used to living next to the pavement like that, all our other houses have been set back away from the road and where the general public walk by, along the side of our house is the side street but its still a busy main road and walkway from the train station away from the town center so is always busy with cars, people walking past and taxis pull up along there to wait for passengers coming out of the train station. The noise so close by is something we are just not used to but its not posing a problem or anything like that, it just feels strange.
Kids have been doing really well, Ivan sat down today to do an art piece which he wants to send up north to his friend. He sat for ages and ages, at least two and a half hours probably longer working on the paper. He hasnt been feeling too well the last few days, slight temperature as well so is taking things very easy at the moment.
Still working my way through the loom knitted mitred squares, down to about one a night at the moment as I have felt extremely tired when going up to bed. Last night though we sat up talking until gone well past 3am so didnt come downstairs this morning until after mid day which made a nice change.
I finished spinning Marsha Reed today about 2:45pm. I just love this yarn, only 8cm left on one single when I'd finished the plying, cant wait to show off photographs of the skein of yarn when Angelica finishes winding it for me later.
Its currently raining, this only the fifth time its rained since we moved in here which is also another big adjustment for us all as we are used to it absolutely pouring down in the north east complete with biting cold winds, its been sunny and very pleasant for us so far, it only started raining a little while ago but I could almost hear our bamboo tree singing when it started, it likes a good drenching I think.
Angelica is just coming in from the second round of shopping now so I'm going off into the kitchen with her to cook, I do love these special times together that we spend, missing Lionel very much because he and I used to spend this quality time together during cooking as well.
