Tony wakes up disoriented. He doesn't know what time it is--they have no clock on either of their nightstands, since they never have to be up for anything in particular here. All he knows is that it is dark, and Edie is asleep beside him. In the faint beam of light drifting in from the hallway, she is

motionless, blood spilling from her throat, blood pooling around her, red red bloodNo.The way it was once before--Edie, lying lifeless before him--No.
Just her hair.
asleep, nestled beside him.

He sits up slowly, pressing his hands to his temples, as though trying to contain the ache within. He needs

a drink.
Several drinks. Something strong.Edie.
to get out of here, to get moving. He is hungry too, he thinks--but mostly the ache, the heat, the feeling of things not being the way they should.

He climbs out of bed, pulling on a pair of jeans, and a shirt that he leaves unbuttoned. Good enough. It's too hot for anything else--

like that summer, all those years ago, they'd spent at the beach, just him and his little blondieThat wasn't Edie.That wasn't him.Of course it was.

--so he pads out of the room, barefoot, making his way past Tino (sleeping on the couch again, even though he's got his own room and his own bed) and eventually, out of their room altogether.
