Yeah. Probably someone's Master's thesis, and their advisor really dropped the ball.
I love Sherlock Holmes. I've read through the ACD canon several times (except a few stories that really irritate me). Sometimes they make me think deeply, but basically? I read them because I enjoy them. That's all.
Yeah. I suppose we as fans should be grateful that this is about fee-fees and not Women R Oppressed And That's Why They Write Teh Buttsexxx a la Bacon.
In retrospect I become even more fond of Jenkins, who simply cataloged observed behaviors and didn't try to psychoanalyze our deeper inner selves.
I am reminded of a class Bill took in college, that had something to do with politics, theoretically, but mostly featured them all sitting in a circle in the middle of the room holding hands and meditating. I don't think that professor quite had the same idea about what constituted a politics class as Bill did.
I suspect the same is true for whoever wrote that survey. Except with Sherlock Holmes, instead of politics.)
*sigh* It was heavily featured at Scintillation of Scions because the couple behind it is a fannish powerhouse. I kind of feel bad about ranting about it. But what else is LJ for? :)
