Bowing out of the commercialism...

Well, I took the good advice on my last post and called my insurer and let them know about the lack of care I received at the doctor's visit. They were interested but seemed to feel that the claim would most likely be paid unless it was for an extravagant amount. Oh well, at least they know.

Neither I nor the wonder sproggen came down with the pox though so I guess we dodged that itchy bullet for now.

We had a nice, quiet Thanksgiving, just me, Scott, the baby and my parents. Ate far too much and mom sent me home with enough leftovers for a week, very appreciated! She's such a good cook.

We also got a chance to talk about Christmas and decided as a family that we were going to skip the gift exchange this year with the exception of gifts for the kids of the family. All of us decided that it's way too much of a hassle, too expensive and we'd rather put the emphasis on enjoying each other's company, sharing a good meal and maybe having a few too many glasses of wine than going into debt and standing in bloated lines weeks before the holiday.

I'm so happy we've decided to do this, not just for my bank account's sake but honestly, I really don't need or want anything. I'm happy that I won't be lugging home more "things".

I'll bake some pies and cookies to bring but beyond that I get to bow out of the holiday buying season. *Huge sigh of relief*
