Being Management means having to compromise...

So, at the very end of March I was asked if the Bookstore would remain open for an on-campus event this Friday. I've had plans to go out of town for the weekend for well over a month now. But, my staff can't be assed to get their shit together and tell me their availability for that event, when they'd be working until 7. Including time to shut down and clean up, maybe 7:15. Yet they can't do that, so my plans have to change. I've had my plans for over a month, yet I have to yield because they can't tell me their availability like I asked for just after hearing about the event.

Looks like I'm going to be a hardass on scheduling again. I do not believe I was asking for anything "extra". Now, instead of arriving in KC around 7 like I had originally planned, I'll be lucky to get there by 11.

Yeah, I'm done being nice about the schedule. You gave me your availability and want to stick to it? Fine. You listed Monday mornings and Fridays as available? I'll schedule you on those. And if you complain about not being able to make it, I'll just start cutting hours. End of story.

I'm tired of playing games with the schedule.
I'm done.
