Ahh, professors...

Spoke to a professor yesterday about the electronic version of the textbook that comes with the package the students currently purchase. I asked if she could take a poll of her students to see if they were both using the electronic version and happy with it as well, since in many cases the packages that have a print only option are gone in a very short period of time, while the print + electronic versions are still on the shelves. So, trying to find that out and rebalance my purchasing obviously means I'm planning on "getting rid of" the electronic versions. Got to love getting worried emails from departemtn chairs at dark-thirty in the morning. Its too early to deal with a professor's bullshit. Especially when the professor goes on about how "this generation prefers everything to be online, they don't want to carry books, they just want to pull it up on the Internet".

Lady, I told you, not all of them do. I'm a member of "this generation", and deal with this on a daily basis. Maybe you should consider what I'm talking about here. I'm not just spewing the latest psuedo-psych work on generational theory showing Gen Y to be a group of overwired technofreaks. I'm one of them. I'd rather have a physical book in front of me, with pages to turn. And I'm not alone.
