We are staying the night in Charleston, WV to break up the 10 hour drive home. It seemed like a good idea at the time to stay here. We picked a hotel on the river with a river view and it seemed pretty nice online. It ain't. Our non smoking room smells like smoke. And even though we reserved a room overlooking the river, apparently you are only guaranteed such a room if you book by directly speaking to a clerk at the hotel, not if you reserve via the hotel's website. Uhm, ok. AND for some strange reason the whole rest of the hotel is booked, no other rooms to spare. So is the nicer hotel a few blocks away. And why are they booked? Why do people want to be in this city? Beats me. There are NO good places to eat. We ended up eating a really bad dinner at Chili's that was in a seedy mall. I realize I am probably coming across as whiny or high maintanence, but I guess we have had such good luck with hotels and food so far, that we are kinda spoiled now. And its only one night. Tomorrow we get up bright and early, eating our free breakfast, and make the drive home...in the rain, it seems.
See some of you tomorrow night!
