Ok, so last Thurs or Fri I called office max (about a week and a half after i handed in an application) and asked to check the status of my application. They said they were currently reviewed apps and calling people for interviews. The next day, or a few days after I got a call asking if I wanted to come in on Tuesday at 2 PM for an interview, i said great....finally another chance for a job. So ok...go in for the interview at 2. The managers in with someone still, so ok like 20 minutes goes by and i finally get interviewed. It was a pretty indepth interview, wanted to know what exactly i did at cvs and then how the procedures were done for the photo lab and how many jobs had to be done at once at a certain time or another. Things were going pretty well and then they completely caught me off guard. They said that if i worked there that I would have to be able to sell to the customers, and in my head im thinking "well no shit" so they ask me if i think i could do that, and i said yes. Well then one of the managers picks up a calculator and tells me to pretend the other manager is a customer and i have to sell him the calculator.....GREAT! i almost shit my pants, i was like wow way to put me on the spot. So I asked him what he was looking for a calculator for, like what was he planning on using it for. He said he just needed a basic one to balance a checkbook and whatnot. I said ok, would u like to buy one where u might need more in depth functions, or u just want to buy one for the sole purpose of basic use. He said just basic use. I asked if he wanted a more expensive one that might be a bit more durable and last a little longer, and he said i just need a cheap basic one. I then told him what I knew about the calculator by looks. That it had a solar panel for when the battery dies, it still has use under a light so theres nothing u have to replace, its light, its small, and it does all the things u would need it to do. It comes with instructions on how to use it incase u get confused with anything. Well i guess thats what helped me out the most, cuz they seemed really impressed with the way i handled that. They said the main reason they do that is to see how people react on the spot, and i was nervous...i havent had an interview since july 2001, i was a lil rusty, but i did a good job. Then there were some other questions and whatnot, that went well. They said they needed to finish up interviews throughout the week, and check peoples references and theyd start calling people the end of this week into next week. I was kinda psyched cuz i thought the interview went well, it seemed promising. Well today, im driving to super stop and shop to cash in my coins at the coin star, and my cell phone rings. I pick it up, i didnt know the number, and was like "hello", he was like "hi is this mike?" i was like "Yea...WHOS THIS!" and he was like "umm...its adam from office max" i was like"OH...hi, how ya doing." he asked me if i was still interested in the job and i was like yea definitely, so Im starting on saturday starting 8.50 an hour, part time. The job seems easy enough, so everything looks good. I think they were really impressed if they called me the day after the interview if they were planning on not calling people till atleast the end of the week, so that really makes me feel good. I probably also have my availabilty going for me. The only times i cant work are monday, wednesday and friday before 5 pm. Theyre only open till 9 on weekdays and sat, so it doesnt seem like a bad job at all. IM EXCITED!! AND YAY I FINALLY HAVE A JOB, SO MY LIFE DOESNT JUST CONSIST OF MY SITTING ON MY ASS WASTING AWAY!
