(no subject)
so ive all the sudden gotten this huge urge to compose music. choral music. because it can be so beautiful.
well, its not that sudden. i mean, ive had an interest in music composition for a long time. and the music of eric whitacre has inspired me so much. i cant say enough how much i love his music. i really think im much more interested in choral music than band. band music has gotten so...boring, monotonous, etc. its all the same. weve never played a piece that ive really enjoyed. whereas in choir, theres water night, demon irrepit callidus, hosanna to the son of david, all that have life and breath, hark i hear the harps eternal... to name a few. and thats just at school. the may festival is lots of fun as well, though i dont have as great a rapport with the conductor, but ive got another year in both, so well see. but thats beside the point. i like band less and less every day. no offence to anyone who loves band, it just might not be for me. but i have to decide on this field commander thing like, now. i dont know...
as for music composition, i dont know where to begin really. i obviously dont have much traing or knowledge about it. but i also dont think that you have to. any suggestions from anyone who knows anything would be greatly appreciated. im taking theory next year, so i guess thatll give me a start. but that doesnt help me now. a lot of the software ive seen out there is really expensive. and i dont want to invest anything if i dont know what i want or need. i guess it might help if i went and practiced my piano...
