We had our department holiday party today. I made mini-cannolis (well, technically I stuffed mini-cannolis) and we played Team Trivial Pursuit (men against women). We women won by one question (we checked to see what the next mens question would have been and they would have gotten it) after a coming up from behind. This was very good of us as the men consistently outnumber the women.
My biggest fail: 'What insect relies most on vision to find a mate?' (My answer, bees, was wrong. It was fireflies. D'oh. Clearly I was overly influenced by the documentary on bees wherein the drones have extraordinarily large eyes, even for bees).
My biggest win: 'Who was the only World Series pitcher to bat higher than ninth in the roster?' (Answer: Babe Ruth. I knew he had been a pitcher and if he was batting sooner, would have to have been a good hitter, but wasn't sure if he had actually pitched in a World Series.)
My biggest almost: 'What song did Ken Burns use 256 versions of in a 1994 documentary?' (We couldn't decide if that was his baseball documentary or his Civil War documentary. We knew it was either 'Take Me Out to the Ballgame' or 'Dixie.' Unfortunately, it wasn't Dixie.)
As for the cannoli, they tasted okay, but I didn't have time to dip the shells, and the filling was a bit watery. Next time I just stick it in the collander without the coffee filter over night or I get the full fat stuff AND stick it in the collander overnight. They tasted good.
