OMG.

"Pear" is truly NOT a difficult word to commit to memory. Additionally, the same should be said of the word "pair." Most importantly, they do not mean the same thing.

YOU DO NOT SUBSTITUTE 'PAIRS' FOR APPLES WHEN MAKING A CRISP!

How about peers? Maybe I'll use up some of my peers for a crisp....

As an aside, have you ever tried pair crisp? We did it once and it wasn't that great. The pairs weren't that ripe so it was too crunchy. I plan to pick a lot of pairs from my neighbor's tree this year though and I think I might try again but may cook the pairs a little bit in a pot on the stove ahead of time to try to soften them up a bit.

I was going to type that I like to eat crunchy pairs, but then I realized that too many things could be added after pairs. So I'll just say I like to eat pairs that aren't quite ripe yet, but for baking they need to be ripe.
