So despite some emotional bullshit I'm trying to work through, I had a very enjoyable day today. Sharnita, Patrick, Gareth, Melissa, two of melissa's friends, David and I all went to the Zoo. Now mind you, it's about the quarter size of the Zoo that I'm use to but it was a nice day. We went to the pub across the street for lunch first and got to hear all the lovely stories about pub crawls and BBQs and then we headed down there. We got to see a rather active tiger who kept rolling around in the grass and playing with a ball that had been in the hippo enclosure. Saw a lot of birds too, seeing as that's really all New Zealand has. I think NZ only has bats and a few small geckos otherwise. Favorite part of the day though was seeing a female lion stalk a sea gull. Fuckin' hilarious! The sea gull got away but I swear it shed most of it's feathers in the process. Didn't get to see the baby rhino that was born or the kiwis...David says when we go out tomarrow to Rotarua (Sp?), we'll stop by a kiwi farm to see them. They look so adorable in all the pictures. Sharnita got me a little kiwi plushie too. She's from Fiji I believe so she's not native here either. I think that's why we mesh so well. David says she doesn't necessarily make many female friends and just hangs out with the guys so she's really happy to have met me.
Other then the zoo, it's been rather laid back. Made dinner and we just had a comfortable evening on the couch watching The Machinist. The ending was kind of blah but there was a lot of symbolism in the movie I'd like to pick out. I'll be gone for a few days. Going down south on a road trip to see more of the country. Not like I don't love it already. I just can't wait to get my dual residency =3
