The thread entitled "Seeking Andraste" is part of a storyline that includes Collie's children that are in her present, 8 and younger (Nicole, Garrick, Rhiannon, Draven, and Diana). Due to circumstances many have come from roughly 16 years in the future to accomplish various tasks including save their own place in time.
Andraste's birth was noted in the thread "
A New Venture." Tex Hikcock, the hardened cowboy, learns that legends are real in some places when he delivers a unicorn foal instead of the horse, he was expecting to.
Diana's tag line is: "Look out bright boy, I'm going to smoke your sorry sexist ass."

here Diana reached the front gate of Mount Olympus Stables. "So this is what it looked like almost new." She whispered to herself. Diana swung herself almost effortlessly over the fence and headed into the stable. She looked for one red mare among the knickering animals.
Andraste seemed to know her quite well. The mare became Diana's after she had given birth to her first foal, which hadn't happened in this time, yet. Carefully, she chose a saddle and blanket sliding it over the mare's back. Dee whispered softly to the red beauty to calm her. Every child raised by Colleen MacLeod learned to love and care for horses. It was how they earned the money to keep her place going.
Collie's only remaining financial interests in Mount Olympus were the choices of foals, she was promised and a small percentage of the earnings made from racing Hermes. All else on the premises belonged to Tex Hikcock. Collie placed those funds in trust for Diana and Rachael. She thought it only fitting considering the circumstances.
Dee slid up onto the mare's back with a practiced style. She headed up into one of the mountains surrounding the ranch. She rubbed her hands together and eventually found herself at the ranch house on top. The view from here was a spectacular site.
The scent of those coming set the black stallion to rearing and snorting. Hermes was kept near the house in his own corral. He had a few acres to run in off to the side of the house, but for some reason he liked the smaller area that was fenced off in the front. Midnight Star was in foal once again, her second. The stallion wasn't overly upset about the second mare approaching, but the smell of the unknown human was a different matter entirely.
The slamming of hooves and violent snorting awakened Kydwyn. The night before had been a long one, she and Tex had planned to sleep in.
Bleary eyed, she started to sit up and just flopped. She groaned a bit as the top of her head connected with the headboard. Her elbow nudged Hikcock's ribs and she spoke quietly, not wanting to send him into an immediate battle stance. "Wake up, James, we have company." Only she and his mother had probably ever called him by his given name. It was only when they were alone
that she spoke such.
She climbed out of bed, dressing fast, and set the coffee to perk on the stove. Short of sensing another like themselves, only two things would wake the man from the dead to the world sleep he was in. Coffee was the only one acceptable with some sort of company on the doorstep.
Kydwyn started to open the door...
Tex dressed fast and stepped in front of Kydwyn as she headed out the door. The small blonde muttered at him about being able to take care of herself. He just gave her a quirky smile and ran his fingers over his mustache. It was a signal of sorts between them. The Iceni crossed her arms under her breasts, tilted her head, and gave the cowboy an exasperated look. He knew she wasn't really angry, it was just her way.
The two spotted the young woman on the back of the mare. Kydwyn started to speak, catching a bit of the family resemblance on the girl's face. Before she could open her mouth, Tex started swearing up a storm about someone riding, what was now, a pregnant mare in his care.
Kydwyn laid a hand on his shoulder, "Damn it, Hikcock, calm down before you break a blood vessel." Finally, she kissed him, sometimes it was the only way to shut the man up.
Diana dismounted and giggled to herself a bit. The Tex and Kydwyn that she knew had been together for some time. From how these two acted, she could see why the people she remembered always seemed so close.
What she saw was a relationship based in mutual respect and trust. She never knew how they ended up together, but they met over a horse trying to cave in Tex's ribs. Rather odd start for two people that seemed to have so much more in common.
Dee made her way back to the ranch house. As she slid off the mare, Tex just about roared at her. The pale blue eyes blinked a few times. "Hey.. what is your problem?"
"You run off with a pregnant mare and I," he jerked a thumb to himself, "am the one with a problem? Missy, you have a hellova nerve."
Diana's jaw dropped, "I had no idea!"
Tex's was about ready to fume when Kydwyn rested a hand on his shoulder. "I'll get us something to eat and you can get her," she inclined her head toward Andraste, "settled."
Tex took the mare back to the corral then went inside. Diana was given the the riot act. She sat politely, but inwardly she chuckled. It was interesting to see his language had always been as colorful as she remembered.
