Maui in a bag

I have come up with what I think is a wonderful idea for a Mother's day gift. I was inspired by the card I found at Borders while I was there working on my Italian oral exam with Carlyn today. It's a sweet endearing card with a mother and daughter on the beach across the front of it. It reminds me that my mother and I had promised we were going to go to Maui together (and alone) once I graduate. Now that the time has come, we can't afford it (yet!), but I thought I could give her a bit of Maui and Me in a bag. I'm not completely sure what I'll put in the bag yet, but a bamboo frame with a picture of me and her (which I will take when she's here and print out before she leaves) sounds like a nice idea, and today I bought a big nice candle that is the color of the ocean and is called 'Ocean Breeze' or something generic like that. If anyone has any more (and somewhat cheap) ideas, let me know. I'd really like the items to either be something memorable or something that can be experienced (like the scent of a candle or something one can experience and not just have)

I actually had something to do this sunday! I went to the Tulip Fairy and Elf parade at Pearl Street this afternoon with Emily. We covered ourselves in glitter and went to see the mass of children dressed up. It was so cute, and Pearl street is so beautiful this time of year with the thousands of tulips in bloom. We got some cute pictures of kids dressed as fairies, and also a few of us surrounded by tulips. It was great fun, and I also suddenly have the idea to print out the pics of me and Em with the tulips and frame them as a housewarming present for her when we move in together this July. Ooh. Nice. I can get a three pic frame and put one of me with the tulips, one of her, and one of the two of us. Yay I like crafty ideas! It's so cute! Must do~

Met with Carlyn today at Borders off of Pearl street too, and that was actually kind of fun even though we were doing work on our Italian exam. We put together a two page conversation about our summer and our families, and actually ended up chatting a bit about those things. It was just kinda cool to sit and hang out. I think I'll see if she wants to hang out this summer, since she'll be around Boulder. Could be fun~ :) Ahh but after actually DOING stuff today I feel a bit worn out. Nauseous right now, but I think it was being down the candle aisle at Target that did it. Blah. I need food and to pass out on the couch I think. But it was a great day, so I'm happy.
