My plans for the weekend consisted of hanging out with friends on Friday night to watch the Pistons, a wedding on Saturday, and then relaxation on Sunday. It wasn't until I received a telephone call from my mom did I realize that my whole weekend had changed.
I was hanging out at my friend Jill's place drinking and watching the Piston's and my mom called. I was a bit surprised because we had already talked about our plans for the wedding on Saturday: be at my mom's house by 3:00 and ready to leave no later than 3:30. We would all ride together since gas is so ridiculous these days. I answered the phone anyway and excused myself from the living room where the Piston's were blaring on the TV to find out that the wedding for Saturday has been cancelled. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. The day before the wedding? Who does this? Samantha and Christopher (my cousin) have been dating for quite a few years now but this isn't the first time that she pulled something shady like this. A couple years ago she got a job in Boston and moved out there. Chris packed all of this things and moved out there to be with her. Once he got out there and was settled, she told him that she didn't want to be together anymore. She he packed up all of things and moved back to Michigan. To make a long story short, they ended up working things out got back together and had plans to be married today. From what I heard from my grandma this morning, at rehearsal last night that was planned at 5:00, she waited until 6:45 to say anything to both families about backing out. I haven't heard the reason why she backed out and I forgave her the first time that she acted that way towards my cousin the first time, but I don't know if our family can forgive something like this. Maybe I'm just speaking for myself when I say that, but after all the money that the families have put into this wedding; invitations, reservations, dresses, etc. That's a lot of money to end up throwing away of it's just cold feet.
So the rest of my weekend will be spent spending time with the family and mending a broken heart. I know that you can't help who you love, but I hope if she tries to come back to him that they just opt for getting married through the courts!!
