I looked through the furniture tag and didn't find exactly what I'm looking for. I'd love to make our bed less toxic, but we cannot get a new mattress at this time. If I buy a mattress encasing cover, will it keep the nasty offgassing chemicals inside as well as the dust? Are they airtight? I can still barely stand to lie on this couch that is over a month old, because it smells of some kind of chemical. It's not so strong it makes the room smell, but you notice it if your face is near the couch and its cushions. I recently bought a couch at a thrift store, and while its in really good shape, I still want to "clean" it to get all of the dust and dirt off of the upholstery. There are a few small stains as well. I can't afford to even rent a steam cleaner right now, so I'm looking for other ideas. Any thoughts?

I have reserved a love seat and sofa from Jordan's Furniture with the Stain Guard on it. Its offered as green but how could it be and I can't find ingredients anywhere. I'm looking for a buckwheat pillow, preferably king sized and pure buckwheat as opposed to the buckwheat/millet blend that seems to be more popular.
