Muscle Twitching, Stress & Supplementing Magnesium

Apr 15, 2013 13:30

Three weeks ago I caught a bug, which morphed into a mild sinus infection. I thought I recovered completely, but after the fever and other symptoms were gone, I started experiencing various muscle/nerve aches, mostly in my back and neck, and after that - irritating, single muscle twitches all over my body when I'm at rest (sitting or falling asleep). And then, dear friends, I did something incredibly stupid: I googled my symptoms -_-' Now I'm absolutely convinced I'm dying from ALS. I've seen my GP and I've even been to a neurologist. Apparently viral infections can "relocate" and attack muscles and nerve endings... Both doctors prescribed rest, magnesium and vitamin B supplements, but above all - patience and stress management, as everything seems to be perfectly fine (excellent results of blood and urine tests, correct reflexes and such). But I can't relax! I no longer experience back pain, but muscle twitching is driving me mad with worry. I've lost ungodly amount of sleep over this.
My question is twofold: how long does it take for magnesium supplement to start working and what can I do to make falling asleep easier?
